Saying goodbye.
On May 11th my wonderful grandmother passed away. Maria Magdalena Angeles del Bosque Kimbell Ruiz was known to her friends as Gelus and to me as Grandmama.
I feel eternally grateful for how close my grandmama and I were. She has been there at every stage of my life and has been one of my biggest supporters. She put family above all else and welcomed Nick into our family in such a warm and loving way.
Without a doubt, I get much of my feisty, stubborn, curious, and energetic nature from her.
In this post, I shared the lessons I learned from her during a week we spent together. I’m so glad I not only had those moments with her, but also captured them as photos and memorialized them as words.
She passed away 11 days shy of her 85th birthday and was surrounded by her family in Mexico. She is finally together again with the love of her life, my Tata.
I’ll miss her always and love her forever. Going home to the US won’t be the same without her. I love you, Grandmama.

Ahhhhh. She was a total character! EVERYONE who knew her has a funny story about her. Your favorite was always how she’d say, when it was raining, how she got “soak and wet.” She’ll live in us forever. Especially when it’s raining!
