Before 24

IMG_2350As of yesterday, it is officially three months until I turn 24. Here are some of the things I want to accomplish before 24.

  • Be 23. IMG_2394During one of my birthdays while working at Target, my wonderful coworkers brought me a balloon out to the sales floor. Seeing the balloon, a customer came up and sweetly wished me a happy birthday. After a few minutes of chatting, I asked her out of curiosity how old she thought I was. She guessed 26. I had just turned 20. Although it spoke to my level of maturity, I didn’t take it as a compliment. In the past, I was so focused on the future that I missed out on the present. My teenage years flew by and before I knew it, I was working a 10-hour day on my 23rd birthday. I have never acted my age, and I am tired of feeling like I have missed out on doing the things that you can only get away with under the age of 24. So with these last few months I want to be 23. Maybe it will involve a weekend in Vegas?
  • Reach 50 countries.

As the list of counties that visit my site grows, the more I realize how large the world really is. There are so many places to visit, so many things to experience, and so many people to meet. I can’t travel the world before I turn 24, but my blog can. Through FromBrownEyes, I have the ability to touch people and travel spiritually to places in a way I never before thought possible. The United States officially recognizes 195 countries in the world, so if I reach readers in 50 countries, then my words and thoughts will be able to pass through a quarter of the world. That is pretty amazing to me.

  • Go off the grid. IMG_4431Without work or responsibilities, I want to take a day to go off the grid. A day of no cell phone, no iPad, no computer, and no email. At this point in my life, no one needs me that badly. I can spend it outside with nature or inside with a book. Instead of getting connected to my social needia, I will spend a day getting connected with myself.
  • Live the Los Angeles dream. l_6632c02645704a429a2998a78289b67dI won’t live here forever. In fact, I’ll be moving away soon for graduate school. So I want to take advantage of being in this magical city while I can. Maybe I’ll be in a movie, party with a celebrity (let’s do it again, Selena, yes?), or just attend some of the best concerts, sporting events, and award shows the U.S. has to offer.

It is time to start acting my age! And for me, that means having a little more fun and learning to let loose. I’m excited to be 23.
